What to Expect During Your Initial Consultation

The 5 Items Discussed During the Initial Consultation with Dansie Design Build

Hello, my name is Rachel with Dansie Design Build. Today, I would like to talk to you about five items that we will discuss in our initial consultation or our first visit to our clients’ home.

1. Project Scope - What Do You Want Done to Your Home?

The first thing we talk about is what our clients want done. There are a lot of things that are going on in their brains that we need to get down on paper and in a form that we can then take and create in their home. So one way that we do that is we send out a design questionnaire, and this helps our clients put everything in their brains onto paper so that we can have an idea of the project that our clients want to be done from the very beginning. This allows us to know what the project outline is before we even show up to that initial consultation. Doing this will help everything go a lot more smoothly so we can figure out the details of what actually needs to happen.

2. Project Budget - What Can You Afford to Spend on Your Project?

The budget is really important to talk about at the very beginning so that we are both on the same page from the very beginning. We don’t want to bring ideas to you that are lower or higher than your expectations. So establishing the budget at the very beginning helps us to meet those expectations.

3. Timeline - How Long is the Project Going to Take?

Number three is our timeline. We want to set expectations as well on how long the project is going to take. We want the Dansie Design Build team and our client on the same page about the timeline.

4. Online Portal for Construction Project Management

Our online portal is probably one of our favorite features that our clients get to use. This online portal includes a lot of different things in one package so you’ll be able to see all the proposals, your budget, or if you want to change anything during the construction process. You can see how those change orders will affect the overall cost. You’ll also be able to make selections on what materials and products you want to use. You’ll be able to see all the project updates. So photos and daily updates of things that are going on on the project.

All our client communication is done through here as well so that we don’t lose emails or messages, and things get mixed up. It’s all in one spot. So if you have any questions about what is going on, it is right there. The last thing you’ll be able to see is an up-to-date schedule of everything that’s going on. So we love this feature for our clients and it helps everything run really smoothly during the project.

5. Design Agreement - What Happens in the Dansie Design Build Design Process?

The final item we will go over is our design agreement. This agreement really just goes over what goes on in our design process. We have our design process and our construction process and the design process has to happen before the construction process so that we have everything planned out and ready to go. You basically see your completed project before it’s done. So that is the last thing that we will go over before we conclude the initial consultation.
