New Basement Finish in Draper, Utah

New Basement Finish

Hello everyone. I’m Caleb with Dansie Design Build in Draper, Utah. I wanted to show you a new basement finish that we are starting, and we’ve just got the framing layout done. So, let’s tour this area so I can show you the different parts of it and how things are laid out in this basement.

Kitchen Layout

You first come to the kitchen and dining room area as you come down from the upstairs. There will be a kitchen in one corner. Then we’ve got the walls laid out on the floor and the baseplates installed.

We’ve installed the marks, so you can see where the fridge, the first cabinet, the range, and the corner cabinet will go. A few more cabinets will be on the other wall, and a sink will be centered on that window. The dishwasher will go next to the walkout entry door on the right side, which has existed since before we started this project.

Bathroom/Laundry Area

The next room is the bathroom/laundry area, and it will have a door.

Bathroom Layout

As you walk into the bathroom, there’ll be a vanity on the right side, a toilet, and a shower.

The pipes in the bathroom will only be here for a short time. We will break this concrete out and relocate them to accommodate this new layout.

Laundry Layout

Moving on, you can see the washer and dryer for the laundry. Straight in front of that will be a linen closet.

Bedroom Layout

There will be another door into this next space, which is a bedroom, which is also accessible through the hallway over here. Then, entering this bedroom, you get a nice large egress window. A walk-in closet will be on one side of the bedroom, so this area has plenty of storage space.

Mechanical Room

Next, we have the mechanical room, which houses the furnace, water softener, heater, and other things. But we’re not going to take a look in there for now.

Storage Under the Stairs

That brings us back to the stairway where we started our tour. As we move past it, there will be the under-the-stair storage area.

Home Theater

As we turn to the right, there is another bedroom area, which we’re putting in low-voltage wiring for the home theater. If these folks ever move, they can list this home as having two bedrooms instead of just one. But for their sake, they will utilize the space as a home theater, so that’s what this area is for.

Wrapping Up

That’s what we’ve got going on here so far, and that concludes the tour of this little basement finish that we’re doing.
